44/43 sweat test results.......lots of questions???????

Carrie,
Isn't it amazing how much you learn from looking things up. I don't know why but the only thing I ever knew about Erin (technically) when she was diagnosed was her sweat score which was in the 60's i believe, maybe it was the way the doctor brought us into the disease, it was more how we could adjust and she would be healthy than technical. Although I'm assuming it's because there wasn't a delay in finding out information as well. I know that as of yet she hasnt tested for the pseudemonis (sp on that) bacteria. They say she probably has it but each time they test it's negative, and she doesnt get "very" sick that often at all, so who knows. When we go into the hospital Erin has student nurses (since she was a baby) and she shows them how to run the pump and flush the I.V. at 11! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">) My hard part as a parent that I am coming to is with her getting older she is going to find out more about her disease. She knows there isnt a cure and that people pass from it, however she does'nt know it's "terminal" or the average life span. I've kept that from her for as long as possible, she'll have enough time to stress on it for the rest of her life. I think I will ask some opinions on here as to how to deal with that, without scaring the beggeeezzes out of her. I showed her parts of this website and the area for kids and she really loved it, but I don't want her wandering around. Okay well time for a shower while jake is in school for a wopping 3 hours!! Take care xNichole

well, i have a while before i have to conquer that issue. but i did have to explain it to my oldest two sons. the only way i could was by telling them that cf can kill wade, but we have to do our part by keeping him healthy with his meds, cpt, and keeping germs away as much as possible. serious hand washing, hand gel, and telling mom and dad when they don't feel good, even if there is a party or dance they wanna go to. wade is more important than the party or dance. i explained to them a cold can mean hospital stays for wade. so we have to take it serious and take precautions. that years ago cf kids were lucky to make it to 5, and now alot of them are making it in their 30's and 40's. some people were even getting diagnosed in 40's and 50's. so new meds and research is really helping. but we gotta stick with our part too. they took it pretty well. they still worry about him, but they know we are doing our best and always will. wade has 3 big brothers 10, 8, and 4 yrs old. so i hope that helps. i plan on telling wade the same thing....lol. but he's turning 2 next month so i have a while.

how do u put a signature and a pic on here?????? i can't figure it out..lol. talk to u soon. carrie

Carrie, sorry i havent checked this board busy busy weekend. to put a signature/picture on your name you to to 'profile' which is on the main page in the upper right. In order to put a picture up you need a server like photobucket.com, that is who I use it's free. You upload the picture to the site and it converts it to a html code when you have that you just type <img src=CODE HERE> and that should do it. If you just want to type something and not use a picture you put it in the signature box onder your profile on the bottom. I hope that helps and it's not to confusing <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">) thanks for your reply and wonderful advice, the best to you and your family<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Morning Carrie!
the reason the code is showing is becuase you have the [Url line chosen. If you go to photobucket there is one that just starts with http: i believe it's the top one. then you just type <img src=ADD HTTP: HERE> and it should be set. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
BY THE WAY
YOUR SON WADE IS GORGEOUS!!!!! thanks for sharing!

Carrie,
that is great news...keep it coming! That is so funny you call him your 'runt' Erin has a nickname since she was 3 months. We call her Boose or Boosie girl , Because of course when she was little she was always so small and petite and had to catch up in weight and such like a caboose (small) on the end of a train. Dunno if that makes sense but it's stuck for 11 years lol. We have Bailey the yellow lab then a year later we got Sydney , she is a full blood sister to bailey same mom and dad just the second litter. They are so cute because when erin is sick they tend to stay by her side where ever she is in the house.
Have a good one!
