5 POSITIVE THINGS

If I went back to my school days of going to the doctors, I could easily come up with five:

1. day off from school, and not dealing with the bullies for the day,

2. Definitely the "treat" to Burger King or McDonalds afterwards,

3. Going "Downtown" in Detroit,

4. Catching up on the latest "toys" at the children's hospital (cause I was 17 and still going there!!),

5. In my case it was hearing the doctor tell me how well I was progressing.

But, now as an adult with CF, there are fewer positive things:

1. Playing my Nintendo DS while waiting to be called,

2. Seeing all the nurses...yea, did that since I was 17, too!

Don't really have anything positive about going to the doctor locally because they're always behind schedule and even though I allow for extra time, it always ends up taking a few hours.

Good things about the CF clinic in the City:

1. Appointments are informative and not all that time consuming.
2. Because it's a 3.5 hour drive we plan a long weekend to shop at some stores we don't have in our area -- sephora, trader joes, nordstroms, disney & discovery stores...
3. Go to the Macaroni Grill
4. Go to the Zoo and/or Science Museum
5. Usually have time to visit with friends from college -- dining out or a bbq

I hate the doc but love the doc at the same time.

1. Getting to catch up with "friends"/Doctors/nurses.

2. Getting to learn something new - I ask alot of questions and always seem to be learning something everytime I go to the doc.

3. Before Tx I just wanted to see that things were "hopefully" staying the same, now I enjoy going to see how things have improved.

4. Showing the doctors I have been doing well - or doing what I am supposed to do.

5. Seeing the doctors - well ... the cute ones at least.

---
When I was younger it was definitely getting out of school and having a place to do my homework. Also the view - my peds. office had a nice view of the River. I used to just sit and watch the boats, birds and the water (for any movement of fish and such.
