5 year old daughter being admitted

My 5 year old daughter will be admitted on Monday morning for her first time since birth.
ANY advice about certain things we should do/ask for/not do or anything you just think we should know would be so helpful!
Thanks so much in advance! I am so stressed out about how I will juggle everything!

Best wishes. You've been through a lot with the baby. I hope it all goes well. The only "advice" I can say is just try to be as normal as possible. When our 3 year old went in for surgery, we tried to show no fear. Now he talks about, "the next time I go to the hospital..." as if it's normal for all kids. It makes us sad, but helps him because for little kids they know what they experience only.

hi my son ryan has been in and out of hospital since birth and i find it hard every single time i dont know when it will get easier as there your babies and we dont want to see them sick or in hospital if its a long stay pack lots of stuff to do or find out if they have a playroom for the kids my son gets very bored in there and wants to play and do normal 4 yr old stuff like colouring in or watching dvd i guess it makes them feel more at home if you can stilldo some fun stuff while in hospital.

The day before Zoe goes in, I go to the store alone, buy a nice size gift bag (or reuseable one), and I pack it with little things that she doesn't already have, whether it be play-do, modeling clay, new crayons, coloring books, new dvd's to watch, small toys or games, etc...oh, and always a new pair of jammies! Everyday that she is in, she gets a couple of new things out of "the special bag"! This really helps with anxious moments or procedures.
We take a portable dvd player with head phones and her favorite dvd's.
We also bring her own pillow, stuffed animals, etc... we put a picture of her siblings taped up on her bed or wall. Take your oral meds, just in case there is any kind of issue with pharmacy getting them to you in a timely manner.
Oh, so important, have someone lined up to bring you decent coffee in the a.m., if you are a coffee drinker. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">
We stay 24/7 with our daughter, so we look like we are moving in....pillows, clothes, etc....
