Im posting here also because didnt get alot of responses in other forum. My daughter had sweat tsted normal for CF so we moved on the went to a new DR. who said gene test was needed. She has a 5T and 7T variant. Also said something about N74 but didnt get into it. She has mostly sinus and ear problems GI issues she has celiac and also Type 1 diabetes. She constantly is on antibiotics due to infections. She has been cultured twiced and it was different both times but bacterial. I was told not to worry that the variants she has arent mutations and they are fine but with her history I am worried. Anyone no anything about these. I do trust DR. just am very worried about my daughter.

5T is a genetic variant on exon 9, most associated with male infertility. It is a low penetrance mutation.
Which basically means, currently, 5T is not thought to cause classic CF disease.

And...

7T (and 9T) variants are what you would find in the normal population. So again, not disease causing.
