Good job Mama! I am proud of you.
You daughter is so cute and so is your husband!
Alexa and I had a really hard time breastfeeding but once we got the hang of it, we had a wonderful breastfeeding experience until she weaned at 12 months.

are you still doing LLL?</end quote></div>

yup. I really like it, not just for the breastfeeding part, but it was nice to meet like-minded mommas in my area.

35 months, holy cow! can I ask why? Is there a benefit or was it hard to wean, sorry I just never heard anyone go past 18, well in US I guess it is different in other countries. My friend lives in Kuwait and egypt and says that there they dont believ ein birth control so they breastfeed for 2 years, no longer per Koran, so all their kids are about 3 years apart! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

my sister nursed her youngest for 3 years, and a woman in my LLL group nursed her TWINS for 4 years! I don't know what the nutritional value is after 2 years, though I am sure it doesn't hurt, but I think emotionally kids get attached and it's hard to take that away - think of a blankie or loved stuffed animal. There is a lot of info on child led weaning. If you click on the "cool wool baby" link in my siggy and then scroll down a few days, in the post "Mom's Breastraunt" is a lot of info about extended nursing, including a video of a mom still nursing her eight year old! I dont think I'll nurse that long, but I am hoping to nurse as long as the baby and I both still enjoy it (I can't imagine I'd enjoy it when she was 8!)

My SIL breast fed my niece until she was almost 3~~
She received a lot of heat from family/friends about it, but my niece was one of the healthiest kids around.

SORRY didnt mean to butt in!

Nicole, we nursed that long because we liked it. Breastfeeding was a wonderful gift to give to my children and myself. I got some comments from people, but it was so long ago (Cara is now 20) that the comments are insignificant compared to the fond memories. When I was nursing my kids we thought my health problems were from allergies (ha!) so I took special precuations when introducing solid food. I was a grad student when Cara was a baby, and very busy, so couldn't focus on gradual and intentional introduction of foods - she really didn't eat solid foods until she was 9 months old (I got lots of comments about that - aren't you EVER going to feed that baby real food?!) ;she was the healthiest of our three children.
SHANNON I LOVE THE COOL WOOL BABY VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! smile smile smile
thank you for sharing it.
