OK the only goal of the majority of the studies was to measure serum concentrations and sputum enzyme levels. This was the only point of the studies.

So it just took me by surprise that the one point of the studies, the one and only point, you didn't recall. That's the only reason I questioned whether or not you read them.

It has nothing to do with intelligence. I was just confused by the contradiction of your comments

Parnets u listen and ask for doctors input but u know your children better than any doctor can, and u know what works and doesn't work for your child. The problem with the EFLOW is that if u don't get some of your meds specifically doses for the eflow u could be overdosing and causing more problems in the long run. Tobi is a great example of this. We were given the green light to use the eflow because we were only going to pulmozyme and occasionaly Hypertonic Saline and our doctor said both of these are safe, even if u get a little extra of the drug.



The bottom line is this machine is more of a convience thing. It's quicker, more convienet and def quiter, so it's worth it for us, but as far as it being a God send for CF, NO, could get the same results from any nebulizer, so I think it is a personal choice if u want one or not, We have it and love it, but it's not doing anything better for the lungs than anyother nebulizer</end quote></div>

i think it's more of a convenience item.

i think it's a compliance item.

i think the majority of CF patients (including myself) would admit to skipping treatments due to time constraints. i was at a work meeting earlier this week. I didn't get back from the working dinner until 10. I had 90 minutes of meds ahead of me...which meant that i was going to go to bed at 11:30. Then I had to wake up at 5:30 to get ready for a 7:30am meeting. guess what? i skipped hypertonic salene (the longest duration neb that i do) to save 20 minutes in the PM and the AM the next day. i figured sleep would do me well. 6 hours of sleep can be rough on the body.

so while i totaly see your point, i do believe that compliance can be enhanced by shorter duration of therapy. and i have a feeling that the majority of CF patients have a similar scenario to mine a few times a week or month.

The holes in the eflow do not allow the hypertonic saline to pass...whta you end up inhaling is sterile water and the salt stays on the face of the eflow...which actually makes the head rust.

I love my eflow, but I only use it for albuterol, pulmozyme and inhaled antibiotics....that's it.

Our Eflow DIED....I called Source CF/ Foundation Care, and they were awesome. They shipped a new head out immediately, but that still did not make a difference, so they are mailing a new one out and said they will include a prepaid postage to send the old one back. I would maybe agree that u should not use hypertonic saline in it.....when they asked me what meds we were using our eflow for I told them pulmozyme and they said something like it being hard on the machine, very sticky or dense? He has done it religiously every day since we got the elow 3 months ago. We have done hypertonic saline in it a few times, but he does not do HS daily. I think the machine is great for convience, BUT, if it is not durable then we willl have to go back to the old nebulizer and keep the eflow for occiasional use or if we ever need antibiotics.

I have the same question as Prussian, where in the heck do you get one of these? Better yet, after i find out where to get one how much am i gonna have to pay for one of these things?
