Hey thanks so much for the offer Debbie!! I think I'll pass though, I wouldn't want to bother you with that. I'm sure your collection rocks though. Thanks again!

Somewhere I heard recently that Madonna and others are considered Musac now, you know....elevator music. That says a lot doesn't it?!

kelly. i agree with you. 80s songs DO rock. in order to feed my secret love for 80s music, my brother got me two of those 80s compilation CDs for christmas one year. i do like the songs, but it is hard to find an occasion to bust them out, ya know?

I haven't seen anyone mention Def Leppard, 38 Special, Foreigner, Journey and some of those bands that had some good songs.
If I remember correctly they were from the early 80's (maybe late 70's too).

I'm a night owl so I always see these music infomercials on TV late at night. I grew up with the 80's music. I do remember the Friday Night Videos (before MTV) too. I still listen to a lot of that music. Believe it our not, I actually have some records!! Boston was (and still is) one of my favorites. I like most of the ones that everybody else has mentioned too. My husband plays in a country band, so I do listen to some country (hate to admit it), but I still prefer the 80's music.

Pour some sugar on me is one of my favorite songs.

I went to a wedding last summer and the couple played this song while cutting their cake! They also came into the reception to ACDC. LOL

I was big into the "alternative scene" (whatever that meant). I went for stuff like the Talking Heads, REM, the Cure, New Order, the Smiths, Psychedelic Furs and Echo and the Bunnymen. But also liked Pink Floyd and David Bowie (but more their seventies material), Dire Straits and Peter Gabriel to name a few.

Nowadays I go all over the place.

hhmmmm...... sory to be a party pooper, I like late 60' early 70's and early 90's. Although I like some Guns n Roses (don't like Axle though, Slash is a hell of a gee-tar player though) and also Dire Strait's. Sultan's of swing was an excellent song. Heavy Fuel, Money for Nothing, So Far Away, ect.ect.

I go Hendrix, Joplin, Zeplin, Greatful Dead, Neil Young (love hawks and Doves)and just about everything. Then the 90's spawned NIRVANA! <- my fav. Peal Jam, Alice in Chains(which started out doing big hair 80's music believe it or not)STP, ect....ect.....
Don't like anything new. What happed to the long solo's and big guitar of our past. Bring it Back please *sniff, sniff* lol
i like hearing your music intrests

I mostly been collecting 80's Music!!
Got lots of Journey (wife and I met cause we were both big fans of Journey!)
She got into an Asia craze, so we got a lot of Asia albums! (she even met one of the members last year, Geoffe Downs!)
Bad Engish was FROM Journey members...Neil Shon and Jonathan Cain to be exact...unfortunately, they didn't do all that well with that album...must've been a phase during Steve Perry's (flopped) solo career!
I got lots of Richard Marx, George Michaels, Wham!, Phil Collins, and even Van Halen!!
I still like G n R, but couldn't deal with anything further right wing, like Heavy Metal.
Anyone like Chicago?? they were originally from the 70's, but were bigger during the 80's!
Yes, the "Other Rick" was big, too! How about Pat Benatar?? Anyone remeber 'Scandal with Patty Smyth", or Duran Duran! I suppose ELO and REO Speedwagen are a bit in the 70's. Rod Stewart even made it through the 80's, but the BeeGees seemed to have died (excuse any potential pun) with Disco!
Was Whitney Houston considered 80's?
Anyway, being so "isolated", I haven't had much interest in the 90's (except for groups I knew from the 80's who still made records), and barely am familiar with the 2k generation! (Rented some Kelly Clarkston, Lindsay Lohan, Shania Twain, and Meredeth Brooks CD's!)
I was listening to about a six CD collection of 80's hits on my way to and from my Iaido class!! Yep, very nostalgic....or in Japanese, "Natsukashi Na!"

I loved (still do) Chicago. I actually went to one of their concerts in the early 90's. They were oldies, but still sounded good.
ELO...Electic Light Orchestra I remember them from the 70's! There's a local radio station that plays songs from the 70's and I tune in sometimes to hear those old songs. Here's one I heard just today.....Gordon Lightfoot's Edmond Fitzgerald (that may not have been the title, but I'll bet you know exactly which song I'm talking about).
This is really getting nostalgic, but the other day I heard the song Convoy!! "Rubber Duck, this here's Pig Pen and I'm about to put the hammer down".

OK, I'll quit being a dork now

Love Chicago, and Journey too. Saw Chicago in college. Wham--yeah, and Pat Benatar was a tough chick--was Annie Lennox during this time, or Joan Jet? Genesis, with Phil Collins, loved him--still do (Lion King). My frst-born was going to be named David, after David Bowie--turned out the "he" was a "she"!

What a great topic....Brings back alot of memories. Poison and Cinderella are in concert in Ohio on July 30th, my friends and i are going, it is their 20th anniversary. Anyways... I can't believe nobody mentioned Cinderella and Triumph, 2 of my fav groups but i was so in love with Steve Perry, loved all of Journeys songs. I also love all of Lionel Richie and Air Supply. Boston and the Eagles are great as well. I love all music

funny how 90% of the bands mentioned are actually from the 70s, and so don't really have the sound of the 80s. I didn't really like the 80s music it, was all quite peely wally, 70s music had substance and guitar.
