Any CF adults NOT have bronchiectasis?
The way it was explained to me, the act of our white blood cells fighting the chronic infections in our lungs actually damages the lung tissue. It is this permanent lung damage that decreases your lung function. I can't imagine anyone that has cultured any bugs for any significant amount of time wouldn't have at least some bronchiectasis.
On an x-ray bronchiectasis looks like an infection in your lungs, but it doesn't go away. They only decide it is bronchiectasis when it doesn't go away when you are otherwise healthy.
