A Book about CF?

So I've been writing poetry and short stories since I was in Jr. High, and just graduated with a minor in literature. Lately I've come up with a lot of stuff, and thought maybe if I could pull it off I'd love to write a book about CF and get it published.

I don't know how to go about this, being that there are so many publishing companies that aren't legit. Plus I don't know what would sell. Do you guys think a poetry book, a fiction, or a non-fiction would sell better? I don't want to make bucu bucks here, but I thought it would be cool to give proceeds to CFF if by some miracle I ever finished it and got it published. I've been thinking about this for over a year, and wanted to look into it more.

Right now memoirs are selling pretty well, but it's hard to say what the market will be like in a few years (which, realistically is how long it would take to get your book in print.)

It might be a difficult story to write, but I'd like to hear about the gene therapy trials going on in Britain. Even if that was only a part of it, just imagine how great a story that would be if you wrote an account of the discovery of an effective treatment for CF - documented it. Man, that'd be cool. Especially evocative coming from someone that has CF. It wouldn't just have to be about that, though. I mean, there so many different people (experts) that you could interview about CF, and so many different treatments that are in the works. Your story mixed with a story of hope for those that suffer from CF - I'd buy that book.
