Hi guys, I am just wondering if i could get back on ssi because when i got married they took me off. My husband is in the marines, and is an E3. He really doesnt make that much money... But they said that he did? I also moved from washington to Oahu Hawaii. I am not sure if that would make a difference or not but just to let you know. ANyways, any help would be great thanks in advance....

No, not SSI because they count your husbands income, I am active duty military as well and my husband doesnt qualify for SSI because they count all my income (housing, BAS and all) but he does qualify for SSDI. SSDI does NOT go off of income, but off of any past work history that you might have. Have you ever worked?

I would apply for SSDI then if I were you, just to see. Initially they told my husband he didn't have enough work hours (when we did a SSDI inqury) but we filed anyways. Turned out he worked 3 days in his 4th quarter and that qualified him. He only made $26000 that year, but now he gets $798 a month in SSDI benefits, and it increases every year with the cost of living.

The criteria for SSI is the same as SSDI (as far as disability, medical condition...)
