She should have the sweat test done...THEN move on to everything else. She shouldn't put your son through all of this!!! No...the sweat test doesn't take very long and it doesn't hurt AT ALL!!! It doesn't take long to get results back (usually same day). If I had your doctor's number, I'd call and give her a piece of my mind!!! If you want me to, I will ) I know it's not funny, but your dr. seems ridiculous! If he gets the sweat test, and IF it comes back positive (and I hope it doesn't) then you don't need ALL of that blood taken!!!! I mean, they will eventually take a little, but...I'm sorry to ramble, it just makes me mad what doctors put us through sometimes!!!!! Email me if you want...augustmoon0003@aol.com Take care and hang in there!!! We'll be thinking of you!!!

I am praying for a negative sweat test for your sweet baby! After reading your post about your child's doctor visit,it is very clear that you need a new pediatrican. I can't believe she told you to quit breastfeeding and she has only seen one time that a failure to thrive baby is not the mom's fault. Like you don't know what you are doing after having six babies. Anyway, at least your child is getting tested to see if something is going on. Thanks for keeping us updated. MOVE ON TO A NEW DOCTOR!!!!Sharon, mom to Sophia, three next month, and Jack, 10 months, both with cf

I've been thinking of you!!! Please let us know! I pray that it's negative, but if not, we'll get through this...all of us together! There are so many great things happening for CF patients and we have to remember that! PLEASE let us know...

I have been thinking about you and your baby. I hope all is well and it is not CF. I agree with the others, get a new ped! this one needs to have her head examined. Most breast fed babies THRIVE unless there is a real problem with the mom's nutrition. Andrea

I havent heard anything yet. I called the dr this afternoon because I hadnt heard anything. Well she isnt in today. How nice! So the receptionist was going to have the dr on call check to see if the results are in and call me back, but he hasnt. I guess I will just have to stress another day. I am so scared right now. I still havent heard anything. I called the dr's office and they said they hadnt got the results in from the lab yet. I am so impatient, I wish I could just get them from the lab myself. I was told they should get to the dr yesterday. It is just stressful not knowing, I hope I find out soon.

I just got off the phone with the lab. They said they faxed the results over yesterday! And again today because they sent it over with some other test results my son had done. So I called the ped. and she is stll insisting she doesnt have them and told me to call in the morning. I am so mad right now!

I am mad for you!!!! If your pediatrician was worth anything, she would have called them herself and made sure she got the results instead of giving you a "call me in the morning line". Your pediatrician is being lazy!! Regardless of the results, I hope you are still changing your pediatrician. My son went undiagnosed for 2 years b/c my ped. blew our concerns off. I thought I was being one of those crazy first time mothers. In the end, we forced the issue and had the sweat test done. Needless to say, we don't see that pediatrician anymore and I learned a valuable lesson. Doctors don't know everything (especially the one's with the big egos).I will be checking on you. Good luck for some non CF results. I hope whatever is ailing your son can be easily treated.Darlamom of Jared 3 w/CF and Lilly 4 months (no cf)

Don't mean anything bad when I "cursed" but I'm mad and I'm not even the mother going through it! SORRY!

I'm sorry that you're going through this, too There is NO Reason your pedi shouldn't have given you the results by now! I agree with the other posters - start looking for a new pedi now! And, when you find one, be sure and tell this pedi WHY you switched. My ex-pedi was similiar to yours, too, and blew things off, treated me like an overreactive mother, etc. I hope you get them soon and that they are neg.

I am also really sorry. I know exactly how you feel. We have test results that took a couple of weeks to get back in the first place, and now they won't discuss them over the phone with me at all. They say I have to come and talk to the doctor, that wouldn't be so bad except for that it is a 3 hour drive for us. Even worse we don't even know what the test is for exactly. We are going tomorrow to find out and to have a sweat chloride test done. That is just awful for your ped to do this to you! Don't they understand how worried a parent gets. I think that there should be some sort of law about this . It is your child afterall, and you should know the results. The lab probally won't tell you anything either I guess. I have been thinking about you and have been here several times to see if you have your results yet . I will keep you and your baby in my thoughts and prayers. I hope everything turns out just fine for you guys.

If I were you, I would be up at the drs office when they open in the morning. Tell them that you will wait until the dr has a minute to discuss the test results with you. I am praying for negative results for your son.Sharon
