ABP to our cfrs in California

Oh my gosh! That's terrible! Its hazy here in Vegas today (from the smoke blowing in from CA)... I can barely see the mountains, so I can't even IMAGINE what Cali air looks like right now!!!

I went out to eat with a friend and walking to and from my car I could barely catch my breath. Its over 102 here today with hot sun and ozone alerts for air quality too, so that didn't help.

Hope those of you near the fires find some relief SOON!!! I cannot believe it smells like smoke in your house, wheeze... Is there anywhere you can go to get some clean air? Would getting an air purifer help or is that just a waste at times like these?

It really sucks for those of you on ABX since you're trying to get better, but I'm sure your PFTs will suck just from the smoke, not just infection! Urgh... <img src="i/expressions/coughing.gif" border="0">

I live in the central valley (Fresno) and it sucks here as well. Really hazy and yucky. We just stay indoors all day. Luckily my son is a homebody so he doesn't whine to go out. And I'm happy just hanging out inside too. I do think it is causing my asthma to flare a bit.

This is scary stuff. I'm not a CFer, but I am from California orginially. Born in San Diego, educated in Sacramento. I had contemplated a move back to the Santa Cruz area (Soquel), but just as I had, SC County became a fiery mess (I get 88.1 KZSC on iTunes). Glad to be in relatively humid Pennsylvania nowadays.

I've felt about 7 earthquakes in my life. I have also seen the aftermath of the recent major southern California fires (where Larry Himmel of KFMB CBS 8 reported from his own burning home, which I saw on WGN cable channel). All that black char in Rancho Santa Fe was a hoprrid, alien sight to behold (my mother drove me through there when I stayed in Del Mar at her house).

I'm lucky to be out of all that. I have over 30 pollen allergies, and can't imagine smoke/soot would be better.

My thoughts are with you back home. I do love California. I hate to see it burned.

Does anybody go to the CF Care Center at UCD Med Center, Sacramento? Would love to hear of your experiences. Hopefully they're good ones!!! Our little girl was just diagnosed a couple of weeks ago. She's a month old today. We live in El Dorado Hills...
