Acapella choice

I'm not really sure what the "flutter" is. If you find a website with a pic or something let me know. The pic of the acapella device i have is here:

Basically you just take deep breaths with your mouth on the acapella and then breath out and you repeat those movements for like 15min or more.

My FEV1 is 47% of predicted. When I started using the acapella it was 42%. I used the flutter before I started using the acapella. The acapella is very similar to the flutter, the biggest difference I've found is it is 1,000% easier to use than the flutter. You don't have to hold it a certain way to get it to work. You can also use it in different positions (like you would do for manual CPT). I think it is much better than the flutter. The acapella also has different levels of resistance you can set it too. I usually have it set to the maximum level, but there have been a couple times when I was sick I had to lower it because it was too hard.

The patient breathes through the Flutter against resistance, which is generated by blowing a small stainless ball upward inside a cone at the of a pipe-shaped device. The ball covers the opening of the cone; as it vibrates within the cone, it keeps pressure in the bronchi high during expiration and thus the bronchi remain open. When breathing out against the pressure of the ball, it also produces low-frequency vibration impulses that ease the transport of the mucus secretions. So basically, you take a deep breath, blow into it slowly, and your lungs vibrate and lossen mucus.
