Acapella vs. Vest

Does anyone have an acapella? If so, have you been given the choice by your doctor to either switch between that and the vest or substitute it for the vest? Personally, I hate my vest and LOVE my acapella but my doctors are trying to get me to use my vest more, even though i feel i get better results from my acapella and it's more convenient to use.

Just curious...

I have been told by my CF dr that the Acapella is not long-term substitute to the Vest. The Acapella is okay to do for a treatment when you are on the go and do not have access to your Vest. It can also be used with the Vest to get extra clearance. So, no the Acapella (or Flutter) is not a substitute to the Vest. The only thing that can completely substitute the Vest is manual CPT. I use the Acapella when I am traveling and have no where to hook up my vest or not traveling far enough to take the Vest. Personally, I try not to substitute more than one treatment a day by using the Acapella by itself.

I have an acapella and use it daily.

I tried the vest. I hated the vest. I returned the vest.

The vest ordeal was before my DX of CF and was recommended by my former pulmonologist. So far the docs at the CF clinic haven't brought up the dreaded vest subject - and I hope they don't because I really HATE the thing.

The problem with the Acapella is it doesn't work the same way every time you do it. Human touch causes variation.

The vest, however, works the exact same way every time you do it - it's not up to the user to make it work. Push a button and it does the same job every single time.
