I went to an acupuncturist for the first time last week. The needles are super tiny/thin, nothing compared to the needles we've all seen and felt with pic lines ect. I saw those little things and thought, no problem. You just have to not move when they're in, or else they really hurt! It was interesting though. She focused on clearing mucus, opening my sinuses and lungs and creating better energy for my kidneys. She said everyone has deficient kidney chi (energy) because of the way our lives go, stress, society issues, stress, ect. So to her, helping your kidneys out with the right foods and needle treatment was key for me. Unfortunately they don't accept my insurance coverage so I won't be going back to her and have to pay myself. My hubby gave me nice gift certificate a while back, which was why I finally tried it. I learned a lot!
My doctors said they would write me a perscription for continued use of deep tissue massage or acupuncture or chiropracter. I think I have found one that will accept my insurance coverage. Fingers are crossed.
There's a lot to be said for Chinese Medicine, especially since for centuries they've been using such different and natural methods then the West. Based on the body and environment vs. antibiotics. It's pretty cool stuff.
