Has anybody heard of acidophalus or is anybody taking it??? I don't know if that's how it is spelled, but somebody I work with gave me a bottle of this and said I should take 1 a day. I don't really know...she says it helps to keep the good bacteria while antibiotics fight that bad ones. This one is new to me, what about you guys?? Hope everyone is having a healthy summer,Emily 22 pwcf

Hi Emily,My son takes Primadofilis daily and it puts a good flora into your digestive system. It is really good to take when you are on antiobiotics and also helps with seasonal respiratory health as well.Hope that helps, have a look on the web there is a really good brand called Floragen which has been highly recommended by many doctors.RebekahMother to Matt 15mths w/CF

Yogurt is a great natural source for acidophillus... I eat a lot of yogurt for that reason, but also I just like the taste. I once tried some acidophilus you add to a drink in a blender, but it tasted something awful.

This is good stuff. I do not know what brand you are using but Jarrow makes a fine product line. I keep mine in the fridge. Jarrow makes one that does not have to be put in the fridge and it is good for traveling. Great for everyone especially people with CF. I once read not sure if this is true but it helps prevent staph infections. IT makes sense because if you keep down the bad bacteria in the intestinal tract that makes for better digestion and better digestion makes for less infection because you are absorbing more nutrients. I am not sure if what I Am saying is true but it sounds good to me so I believe this could be true. Preventing yeast is important because many other illnesses can develop from yeast. time to pop a anti yeast pill good ole acidolphilus

My daughter takes Bacid, a probiotic, which contains acidopholus. Her infections (respiratory, nose, and ear) have decreased considerably since she has been taking it. It was originally given because she was having a lot of infections and at the time they said it has been proven to reduce infections. She has not really even had to take any antibiotics since (maybe once or twice) and it has been over a year. I strongly recommend taking it under the supervision of your cf team.My husband is on medication for other medical problems and this medication seems to cause him to get colds more often (which our daughter does not seem to catch). He is also going to speak to his dr. about proper dosages etc.Heather
