I have never taken ADEks, but my last labs revealed low Vit D and A levels, so i had a sample bottle about the place and took that. Now it's gone and I am back on my prenatals because apparaently my insurabbce doesn't cover ADEks and I don't have an extra $30 a month for them - SO

are there any alternatives - any OTC vitamins that have the same levels? Should I just double up on the prenatals - I know part of the ADEk thing is the water soluble vs. fat soluble - but I need an alternative to spending money I ain't got. Suggestions??

What enzyme are you on?

Ultrase offers Comprehensive Care Program for CF - where you can get ADEKs. I'm not familiar with this program.

Creon offers More EXTRAHELPINGS - where you can get SourceCF softgels.

I think they both require that you are not on Medicare/Medicaid or federal/state health programs.

DS' doctor has him on regular Adeks (now aquaAdeks), but also has him supplement with Vitamin A, E and K -- for the Vitamin A he's to take plain old run of the mill 10,000 iu once a day -- fat soluable -- comes from fish oil. Fairly cheap. As for Vitamin D -- do you get enough milk -- or could you take Calcium with Vitamin D in it. I've also heard that standing outside in the sun for about 15 minutes sans sunscreen helps with the Vitamin D, too.
