ADEKS Confusion

We were always told never to chew the ADEKS, which is why we switched to Source cf ABDEK. My kids hated the taste. This week my son was in the hospital and I forget to bring the ABDEK. My nurse recommended we crush the ADEK and put it through the g-tube. What a mess!!! I was stained completely orange from trying to get the gains through the tubing. AT the end of the ordeal my son said "mom, why didn't I just chew 'em". NOW he tells me!
