Hi eli <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Kj had 30cm of her bowel removed at birth and coupled with c/f she doesn't absorb vitamins well.
especially fat soluble ones.

I wish they would be put on the pbs the same as all her other meds. But because its vitamins they don't feel it's necessary.
The only thing is her blood tests says she needs them (Stupid govt)

We live in Warrnambool, Victoria and I get them from the hospital pharmacy there.
It was too expensive to get them from the childrens when she first went on them so kj's doc organised them to be cheaper
at our hospital. Though they keep going up in price all the time. When she first went on them they were only $15
and something cents (can't remember now lol)

Thanks for the reply.

We go to the Sydney chn's hosp, and they too have gone up in price. Three times in two years, but only by about $3.

I think in your case it should be an exception, and they should subsidise (sp?)
the cost, it just isn't fair is it.

Hope your little girl is well<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I have gotten them thru Schandipharm because of using their enzymes, but I also was able to go to my local pharmacy & have them ordered. They had to look it up as they didnt know there was an ADEK vitamin. I have since switched to ABDEK, but I have ordered that directly from CFSource without a prescription. My insurance doesnt cover it either.

Hey eli,
just went into town to the hospital and they are now $22.30, they seem to go up every time i go in.
The pharmacist who served me said that they are usually $40 to $60 depending on the chemist.

The guy said that the hospital charges us what they get charged from the companies.

I definitely wouldn't be able to afford the $40 TO $60 price range every 15 days
(just worked out how many days it does last)

How much does everybody else get charged for there vitamins and how many do you take?<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Hi Mum2Kj,

thanks for the update and kind words. I hope your daughter continues to do well too.

I also hope the Vdecks don't get too much more expensive then that. I mean to pay $40-$60 every week. No way could any middle class family afford that. Its crazy<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

Its good that the hospital sell's them at the cheaper rate, although would be much better if they were discounted even furhter for people with health conditions like CF.
