Does anyone know anything about the Cf clinic @kansas university?I think that is the one closest to my brother.God bless, pam
I do not know anything directly! My children go to the Childrens Mercy Hosptial in KC... right down the road from it. Almost all of our CF got their education at KC univ. and CMH often team up with them. I am guessing you are GREAT hands there!!!! We get wonderful care at CMH!
As my husband just tested borderline for CF today (we are gentic testing ASAP), if it turns out postive... we will be seeing the CF clinic at KC univ. and I will let you know more.
I just found this link... dosn't tell you much... but I will post it here for you anyway! http://www.kumc.edu/Pulse/full_rec_display.jsp?unitid=6539
I have heard that the KU Med Center has a wonderful program, but haven't checked it out myself. I don't know which way you are from KC, but Wichita also has a CF Clinic & I'm betting St. Louis may too?
I wanted to add something to the posting above...if you live the same distance from Wichita & KC, pick KU Med Center. I think they would have alot more to offer
St.Louis does have a great CF clinic. I live in Illinois but travel almost 2 hrs to the clinic. I've been there 4 yrs now...very good doctors and hospital as well!

Dea,
I've thought about going to a CF Clinic that is 2-2 1/2 hours away, but didn't know how that works for hospitalizations---do you have to be hospitalized there in that city and do you have to travel there when you're feeling under the weather w/ colds, etc?
There is a clinic here in town, but I am less than thrilled w/ the one doctor that is there. The closest other CF clinic, like I mentioned is 2+ hours away.
Yes...I have to travel there for hospitilizations as well... Luckily there havent been too many of them. Usually the doc lets me go home on iv antibiotics. As soon as I start feeling bad...I call the doctor. I dont wait. I feel the same way about the hospitals around here....theres no way I would want to be admitted to them....the doctors around here hardly no anything about CF. So, to me ...it is worth the drive to know I am being taken care of properly! Good Luck!
