I went in for a tetanus shot on Friday -- it'd been 10 years since I'd had one and I realized it had been awhile a few weeks ago when I was helping replace some boards on my inlaws dock and was dealing with rusty screws... anyway, the tetanus vaccine in the states now comes with an adult pertussis vaccine. Was approved for adults in 2005.
Two years ago there was a whooping cough epidemic in our state -- teens and adults had gotten it and someone in DS's preschool had gotten it, too. Prior to 2005 the vaccine was only available to younger children.
BTW, don't remember my arm EVER hurting this bad before from a shot -- goes all the way to my collar bone. Ow, whine. Meww mewww.
