Don't forget that Advair is also a bronchodilator. The claim is that it helps open up your airways as well as help with inflamation.

Jordan is on Asmanex, which is similar to Advair. He notices a big difference when he stops using it. He did his own experiment, because he is a rebellious teen, and doesn't like to take meds or treatments. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0"> He had to admit that the Asmanex really helps him. The inflamation got to him within a couple of weeks. He does have an asthma component with his CF.

In my experience, I actually notice a big decline and like you have experimented with Advaire. It is an antiinflamatory drug but the steriod doesn't get into the blood stream as much, actually very little because it goes directly to the lungs. I found that my lung function goes way down without it. I never miss it now. Huge difference.

I do have a big problem with Thrush though because of it. It is worth it cause thrush is manageable. I wonder if anyone else has problems with Thrush and what they do about it?

I would say it's definitely worth it to revisit Advair and adding it back into your routine. I was never a fan of the diskus, but I really like the Advair HFA. Definitely use a spacer with it, to avoid thrush, and always rinse your mouth out with water (spit! not swallow) to further avoid thrush.

JenWren, have you tried the Advair HFA with a spacer? I always felt a "film" on the back of my tongue with the diskus, but I don't notice it at all with the HFA and spacer combo.
