Advice from fellow Christians

Hi There.. Gosh it is really hard in this day of advancement in medicine to be able to not cross the line with human lives.

I love the idea of PGD and being able to select which child is placed into the womb and which one isn't.. I like that idea because you have a better shot at a healthy child.. but really if you are against abortion totally, then you have to know that the children that are created... that have CF that are not implanted are not given the chance to live, and they are either killed or donated to science.

Where a life begins is a huge question for a lot of ppl, some people don't believe in birth control because it is almost the same thing as abortion, in some ppl's minds.. not saying in my mind.. but because when you take birth control pills the egg can be fertilized but just not allowed to enter the womb... I may not be explaining it right but... any how..

The point I am trying to make is it is such a personal choice.. I as a Christian women, would not be able to select which eggs I accepted and which ones I didn't, just because to me, if an egg is fertilized it has the potential to be one of my children or a child.. so I would have to get them all implanted and leave it in God's hands.

My friend did IVF because she was having trouble conceiving, she is a christian women, she had what she didn't use frozen but went back to it in a few years, she didn't want any more children but she felt obligated to the eggs, none took.

I feel for you honestly I do... I am so happy you have a child without CF now, CF is hard to deal with, not impossible, but hard.. If you have your heart set on carrying a child in your womb then adoption is going to be hard.. Because adoptive moms carry the baby in their heart....

So I guess I will say, I agree with you PGD is a form of abortion for the ones you don't use..... sorry... I wish I could say I felt differently....

I pray that you find the right choice in your family for you... and I pray that God leads you and directs you......

With Love

I'm Christian and I have no problem whatsoever with abortion. The foetus isn't alive until it's out of the womb and breathing, IMHO. That's why you're not a US citizen until actual birth. I'm not trying to challenge your belief or say you're wrong -- Just offering a different perspective.</end quote></div>

You might want to take some biology classes. Your basing your belief on what the US government says in regards to citizenship? Illegal aliens aren't citizens either, so does that make them not human beings.

You are the only one who can make this decision. We can all give your our opinions, but really they don't matter. You are the one who has to live with the decision you make.

I recently gave birth to a daughter with CF. I knew nothing about CF until she was diagnosed. She is a beautiful, perfect little baby girl. I am so thankful for her.

My husband and I have decided not to have any further children because we now know we are CF carriers. I made the decision that implantation is not the right choice for me. But I am happy that I had the choice... each woman deserves to make that choice for herself.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Search your heart and make the decision that is right for YOU.

Hi Maryann:

The advice on this site is obviously very heartfelt and coming from intelligent points of view. It was a pleasure reading all of the opinions. The only thing I can add is I have learned an awful lot over the years about Spiritual Discernment. The Gift we all recieved from God from the moment we are born.

My comments would tend to be around that subject listening to that inner voice.

WE chose not to have children of our own for personal reasons regarding CF and God has provided me with all the children in our lives that I can possibly handle. We create our own reality. We love children and they love us back.

Blessings to you and your family.
