If I were you, I would go ahead with getting the appointments for a 2nd opinion. I would not wait for the test results.

I agree w others, start the process now for second opinion. The process takes several weeks, if not a month or so. By then you will have genetics you can bring along or send in advance. We have already transferred my son's pathology slides/blocks from his procedures up to Boston. They usually require records from everywhere, including his pediatrician, to see entire history. So, that takes some time to get but worth it. I feel better knowing a totally new team will look at my child's records bc where he is being seen now, no one seems to be accountable for finding the primary cause of PI.

If you think he will require that surgery, it makes to get established there in Boston where you say they have expertise in this surgery.
