Hi Ruby, I'm alright! I've been home loads lately so Im catching up on all the topics and getting back posting! I'm in between going to college and waiting for a transplant so sometimes life gets a bit hectic! How are you doing? I don't think we've met before...

I used to post under the user name Roo but I can't remember the log in so I re registered. I read more than I post so I was used to seeing you posting and then you stopped for a while - musta been the asessment , so I had wondered where you had gone. I'm doing grand really can't complain, I'm working full time and do home iv's every two months or so and I try to do some fundraising - sold a lot of those little cf scarecrow dolls the day of the wales and ireland rugby game and I was for a while writing to politicians about the organ donation system but the replies were a bit lame . Am going to keep nagging them though. What are you studying....

Oh yeah, i remember Roo alright! Thats cool about u been able to hold down a fulltime job. I don't think I'd be able for that, for the moment anyway, Im too unreliable! Im studying psychology and computers. Its an interesting course, Im more into the psychology side of things.
Thats cool about the fundraising. I didn't sell any dolls this year but I sold a load of those bracelets during the year, they were real popular. Do you go to Vincents then?

Yep, I go to vincents but not to the outpatients cos I cultured Cepacia about five years ago ( haven't cultured it in about a year now but they still keep me away from outpatients and St Pauls) have been an inpatient a few times and I hate it, I'm not allowed to mix with anyone else and always get stuck on some horrible ward miles away and full of geriatrics I avoid this at all costs and push for home iv's. My job is flexible I only do six hours a day and can get a lot of time off, unfortunately I don't get paid if I don't work. I did Art in college but don't do much now. Do you have to go to Newcastle or can you go to the Mater , if you don't mind me asking..

Thats cool about your job. I went over to Newcastle for 5days for my assesment and then I went to see them in the Mater clinic after that. I think you only go to the Mater if they want to see you, like I don't go every 3months or anything like that. I think you only have to go over to Newcastle once. Have you looked at the transplant path at all?..

No, it hasn't been mentioned to me yet. I keep expecting the team to bring it up my pft's are between 35 on a bad day and 45% on a really good day. But at the same time I feel ok most of the time, I try to exercise but I'm very lazy . The only time it was ever mentioned was once by Dr. Gallagher when he told me about the cepacia and that was only as in don't worry they transplant people with cepacia too. I kinda keep going and going and then have to do the iv's but I have to admit if I'm well I get a bit lazy about my nebs and start justifying reasons to skip a day.

I think they mentioned it to me about 2and a half years ago. My lung functions were about 35 and no higher. But that was merely talking. I didn't start seeing anyone "transplant" until last year. And then I had an assesment in April where they told me I was too well. I've only gone on it recently. .
Its hard when you feel great to keep doing your nebs and all religiously. Very few people are perfect! Do you have any diet probs?

Not really I got lucky on that side of things. I have some, but definitely way more on the lungs side of things. I was diagnosed cos of the digestion problems but I'm able to control it, I only really run into trouble when I get caught out without my Creon (10,000) , then I get blocked and run through at the same time - if you know what I mean ( a bit graphic) but movical sorts this out and I really rarely miss my creon for obvious reasons. My weight is pretty consistant too, it goes down a bit when I have an infection and they try to get me to take the shakes polycal which I hate. What about you...
