After your child was diagnosed with CF were you genetically tested?

Which test did you do? (tested just for the genes your child has, the limited panel, or the full panel test)?

Did you insurance pay?

Our clinic offered us the option of being tested, but said I would have to contact the insurance company to see if they would cover it. I would like to know what mutation I passed on to her, so that I can provide the information to the rest of my family. Also, I have some issues (breathing and digestive) that make me think it might give me peace of mind to have a full panel test done.

when i was diagnosed the CF gene hadn't been discovered <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

when I was 9, it finally was, and my parents were tested. it helped us get other family members tested to see if they were carries cuz we knew which gene to look for.

My husband, my son and I were all genetically tested, not in that particular order. I was tested when i was pregnant with Maggie Because of an abnormal ultrasound. The tested my husband and I for the most Common CF mutations, probably only 97 on the panel...We obviously each carry one. Insurance covered it. After Maggie was born I had my son tested for only the mutatation my husband and I carry, my son does not carry either one, and again insurance covered it.

After dx's my mil was tested then when it came back pos. all dh sibs where tested all the boys are carriers and the girls are not and since it ran in the family it was covered. We have given the info on my gene to my side of the family but they think its only something I got so all I can say is I tried.
