I was tested on a small panel to find out what gene I carried to let our family know. Someday I will probably get the full panel done because I as well have a lot of digestive issues. Not in a hurry though. My insurance did cover the small panel because I made sure my doctor billed it as a 'medical need.'

We weren't planning on getting genetic testing done because my daughter is double DF508 so we each knew what gene we carried, but....
My husband developed respiratory problems and was eventually diagnosed with bronchiectasis so he was tested. They started with a smaller panel, but that showed only one gene. After that they did the full panel, which still showed only a carrier. And yes, the insurance covered the cost because it was for diagnostic purposes.
