We have a whirlpool whispersure -- hepa filter. Was a gift shortly after DS was born. Originally they were going to get us one of those sharper image ionic ones, but then consumer reports indicated they weren't very good.

We have 2 oreck air purifiers, one is in my son's room. I really like them and they keep things smelling fresh. They really collect the dust.

HEPA is the best to get. Don't get 'ionic' kind as they put ozone into the air which can cause damage to the lungs.

Ditto to the no ionic -- bad for you....

Yes, any brand so long as the filter unit is HEPA would be good.
