Has anyone seen or heard of airway clearance or chest percussion therapy fracturing ribs of a sick, preterm, infant? If a stick with a rubber dome attached(and if anyone knows the name of this device I'd appreciate it!)? Any and all info would be appreciated, thank you.

I have to agree with Jo that anything is possible.

That said, babies (even sick ones) are not as fragile physically as many would suspect.

In addition, if you are trained properly it should not be an issue.

PS: the name I've heard for little rubber thing you use is a percussor (also used to describe a machine that does the same).

Yes, sounds like you are talking about the little pink percussors we use on the babies.

I am sure if you do percussions hard enough on a baby, you could hurt them. You should be trained and you will 'feel' whats right when doing the percussions.

My baby always falls asleep when I do her percussions at the same time as her nebs! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">)
