Ok so I started on Albuterol but hate it because it makes me shaky all day so My Dr. switched to Xopenex. I was wondering does one work better than the other and what do all of you prefer and why.

Thanks Athena

Hello Athena...I had the same problem with albuterol, also induced my arrythmias so the docs scratched that and put me on xopenex. I have been on that for years now. I find that it doesn't make me as shaky and my heart thanks me for switching, my arrythmia is supra ventricular tachycardia, the albuterol made my heart race to 170's with a few doses on board. With Xopenex, my heart rate rarely goes beyond 120. I do know that Xopenex isn't supposed to be given really frequently, usually it is a three times a day drug, but more can be given in the case of bronchospasm. I find that it works well on my airways. Hugs, Jenn <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I also take Xopenex for the same reason (racing heart). I have taken it for several years, as I don't tolerate any bronciodialators very well (especially oral ones they tried when I was a kid). It works so much better for me, that I have been paying a $50 copay for it, instead of $15 that I could pay for the albuterol.
