Alcohol while on the list

I know at my center they will NOT transplant you if you have been drinking for exactly the reason tanya mentioned.

Also I must say this not to be rude but why the strong urge to have a drink when it may put your transplant in jeopardy. You can drink afterwards I would just try to refrain until that time because you never know when you may get your call and how badly would that suck to have a perfect set of lungs ready to be handed to you only for them to say no we can't because you have been drinking tonight.

Sorry but just my opinion on that. I would ask the center because your center may not care but you do have to take into consideration even if they don't care the affect it may have on the way you bleed during surgery, which could result in some major issues for you.

I would agree, but before your surgery they do give you a bag of vitamin K to thicken your blood for the surgery. But alcohol can effect your body in other way, with everything they have to give you med. wise and to put you out for the surgery. I would say it isn't a good idea, Asked your drs. about it, I can see them turning you down for the surgery if you had alcohol in your system. By the way your not really aloud to drink alcohol that much after surgery either it can effect the meds. at least thats what my drs tell me!
