Allergic Bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (sp?) ABPA

I would not wait until 1000. Our doctor suspected ABPA in our son and he ordered everything! Full allergy testing, CT scan, x-ray, blood tests... the works.

I cannot remember his IGE test number - I'll go see if I can dig up some paperwork, but I'm pretty sure it was far lower than what your daughter is at already..... by far

I was once diagnosed of having ABPA but over the years they have backed off of it. I think the specific blood test for the markers is called an IGE RAST. As previously stated, without a CT scan they are just assuming that is the correct diagnosis. For the record not all ABPA is treated with antifungals...many times it just depends if you culture the fungus itself. As the name entails it is an allergic reaction to Aspergillus so you can be exposed and not culture it.

When I was 8 years old I had ABPA with an IGE of 6,000. I was put on prednisone and it cleared up right away.

A few years later I was put on antifungals (sporanox). Since seeing the adult cf clinic I haven't really had an issue with aspergillus. I currently don't take any anti-fungals.
