I have taken Bactrim before and always had some side effects(shortness of breath, no appetite) , but always stuck it out because the bacteria I have was sensitive to it . But this time I took it almost a week 800 mg 3 x a day . By the 7th day I felt like I had pneumonia. My lungs were tight I couldn't even cough up the mucus anymore . I finally figured out it was the bactrim. But I also have no appetite(which is very not me), severe anxiety , almost depression . I have never felt this before . I am really losing it . I have read that the bactrim can cause anxiety even after you stop taking it. I have never had to take anything for anxiety before and my doctor is very reluctant to give me anything. Has anyone else had similar side effects to this drug . If so please let me know . And how long the side effects lasted after stopping use. Thank you regina

Regina, I'm so sorry. I can't add anything re the bactrim, but while waiting for it to wear out of your system, what might help is some anti-anxiety coping techniques. Yoga is especially helpful as is relaxation breathing. Try googling and then try some of the things they suggest. . . . hoping this can help you over this bump.

I was on bactrim for years and then my dr took me off and recently went back on again and now when I take it my face swells! My eyes and mouth get swollen! It used to be a reaction from just the iv bactrim and not oral bactrim (I kno weird sum thing with the way they mix it) but I would tough it out too bc it's so effective. I too suffer from anxiety lately and I'm not sure if its from medication or frustration. I do kno us "cfers" take so many meds it must screw around wit our body so I've been trying to tough it out but it's hard! Very hard. I think bactrim might have sum thin to do with it but I honestly think its just frustration. Just keep your head up and kno every treatment u do is a step forward feelin ill better :) good luck

Ok your doc just raised a red flag. He should take you off immediately!!!!! You are obivious have a severe reaction to the drug. I took baccum and had severe nausea to the point where I could barely move. He took me off and found a new drug. When you are having this type of reaction you can do more harm than good. Talk to your doc again and be more insistent on changing your med
