Allergic to port dressing ...

Please share (brand names) of what you or your child use if you have an allergic reaction to the dressing/bandages ..

So far i am allergic to 2 of what my home health care company uses & am starting to have a reaction to the third <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

Any info would be appreciated.. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I used to be allergic to Tegaderm but now I can tolerate it. They used to replace that with something else, the name is slipping right now. It took like 2-3 square sheets to cover the area.

But man I would get big blisters and itchy skin to boot.

If I think of the name I'll let you know!

Somthing funny, when I would get a pic line they would cover it with tegaderm, but now I have a port, the dressing changes are the same minus the little peice to keep the picc from coming out, but now when my port is accessed and there is tegaderm over it I too get itchy after a few days, and I get a lot of pimples under the tegaderm. Maybe the reason it is itchy and the pimple is becuase like all CFers I sweat a lot, and am not able to wash off the od sweat becuase the tegaderm is over it. But when the tegaderm was on my arm I did not get this. Maybe becuase there is more sweat glandes on your chest than is on your arm.

My theory, dont know if its right, but my hospital has no other option other than tegaderm.
