Allergic to port dressing ...

This probably isn't going to apply to ports, but with my last PICC, they used a 'frame' tagaderm, that looks similar to the following:

I would ask for the pediatric size.

That was so much better than a huge sheet of tagaderm.

Also, before the 'frame' tagaderms were available, one nurse would put a thin layer of gauze between my skin & the sheet of tagaderm and would only leave the part open where the PICC goes in and of course, would leave the outer edge with just tagaderm so it would stick.

I sure hope you can find something that works. There's nothing like constant itching<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">

I am not allergic to tegaderm but very sensitive to adhesive in general. I use IV 3000. It is like tegaderm but breathes MUCH better. I know that when I have posted about this before, someone suggested Sorbaview. I have never used it personally, though.

I use sorbaview. It is amazing stuff. It has like cloth on the outside with small openings. I also find that if on days that I need to change my needle, I pull it on one dose and dont reacess until the next dose, it gives it time to breathe.
