anyone know anything about Sublingual immunotherapy vs Allergy shots?
Allergy shots require weekly visits to the Dr.
Sublingual therapy is 6 drops under her tongue every day at home, BUT NOT covered by insurance.

thoughts?

Thanks
Debbie

I've heard of it, but I don't know if it is even approved in the US, or if so, how many allergies it would cover...I asked my allergist about it a while back, but there wasn't anything with the drops that would help my allergies. I would be interested in the responses you get too! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

There is a wonderful non-shot allergy elimination technique called NAET. By stimulating certain acupunture points while the patient is exposed to the allergen, the body learns not to react to the substance anymore.

We have used it for our son and myself. I was allergic to grains, dairy, sugar, and chocolate and can now eat all of them without any issues. I also have suffered from seasonal allergies since the age of 5 and so far nothing! Fall will be the true test. My son was starting to show signs of seasonal allergies, dogs, and dairy. We are still completing the dairy treatments but he can already eat yogurt, some cheeses, and sour cream. He has not been able to tolerate anything at all since birth, so this is exciting.

I know people whose children have severe food allergies (peanuts sending them to the hospital) use this system and they are able to completely overcome it.

For more information you can read about it here...<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.naet.com/

I am happy to share more if you'd like to PM me.

Hi Debbie
We started my daughter on them last Fall....her worst allergy time is in the Spring. Our allergy specialist told us the drops are just as effective as shots, have been used in Europe for years and very safe. In fact, with shots you need to stay in office for a bit after the shot to make you dont have a reaction..no need with drops. They are obviously less painful than getting jabbed once a week and you can do that at home. This gets rid of the need to get to their office every week and although they are not covered by insurance yet our weekly co pay for the office/shot visit would have added up to more of the out of pocket cost of shots. I am hoping they take somewhat of an effect this Spring...the whole process takes about 5 yrs as does the shots. My daughter has awful sinus disease with a on and off drip that is really the reason for any cough she may have...which could turn into a lung infection (we have only had one last year...she is 18 so we have been lucky...and want to stay that way!!). Anyone else has anymore info on the effectiveness I would love to see it.
