hey guys, honestly, i am not trying to toot my own horn here, but i put so much time into this post on my blog last night and then there were a bunch of new blogs today so it got knocked right off the lilst of recent blogs!

for those of you interested in reading about my experiences getting allergy tested, please check out my blog:

my blog

secondly, i wanted to know if any of you have ever been on or considered doing allergy shots. my allergy doctor recommended them after my testing yesterday. i always thought the purpose of allergy shots was to keep people's allergies in control, i didn't realize that they can sort of "cure" some people of their allergy symptoms!

anyway, i'd love to hear your guys' experiences, if it helped or not, why you did or didn't decide to do the shots, etc.

thanks!

Have you looked into NAET for treatment? It is based on desensitizing the body to the allergens using acupuncture points (no needles). It is painless and I have met 3-4 people who have been able to stop reacting to foods they were severely allergic to and get rid of seasonal allergies all together. They are off their meds as well. Granted they did not have CF but 2 were children who has severe milk and peanut allergies - couldn't even be near the substance). I have several links and articles if you're interested http://www.cfnutrition4life.co.../articles.php?cat_id=2 We plan to try and clear Ben of his allergy to dairy using this technique so I will write about it as we go along.

I think this is such a huge underestimated part of health no matter how you choose to treat it. Thanks so much for your blog it is very important topic in health and the proper functioning of the immune system.

Best wishes,

Ry took allergy shots, and they changed his life. The severity of his allergies went far, far down, and his allergies to cats and grass went away entirely. What did you want to know about them? I'd suggest them to anyone.

i have been doing allergy shots for a while.

i used to get sinus infections 3-4 times a year and after allergy shots (plus anti-histamines, matress&pillow encasings, HEPA air filter) I haven't had a sinus infection in over 5 years.

many CF patients have undiagnosed allergies - many docs think it's just CF coughing or CF post-nasal drip.

treating my allergies has made a huge difference in my lung health as well. congrats on being proactive about your health. i think you have much better health to look forward to!

I'm glad you got some answers. I've been allergy tested more times than I can count (skin and blood...first time at age 2, last time just a few years ago) and am not allergic to anything enviromental. Just food, more antibiotics than I can name and fire ants.

Good luck with the shots if you decide to do them. I know quite a few people who have had excellent results with them
