Hey hey...

i am a new comer. My name is Frankie. i have CF. i was diagnosed when i was 3. i grew up in Kansas City and i recently moved to Milwaukee. i collect tattoos and i live the "tattoo" lifestyle. i love to have fun and i believe life is only what you make it.

That being said, i have a myspace, if you want to get to know me better, go here. Or let me know what you want to know, i'm pretty open, so ask away.

The main reason i am writing this, and i may post again under another topic, as i am desperate...

As i said, i just moved to Milwaukee. In Kansas City, i was completely spoiled. i had the greatest doctor on the freaking planet. His name is Dr. Frank Quijano. He is incredible. i moved here and was reffered to Froedert Hospital to see Dr. NoName i was told she was a great doctor and i would like her. ... WRONG! i am not saying that she isn't a great doctor, that she is... but i just don't think we mesh well. i am a difficult person, and that's my fault, i know, but i can't change it. When people of authority don't give me the respect i deserve, for whatever reason (whether it's because they're older than me, or because they think i can't possibly deserve respect if i'm *gasp* god forbid, tattooed!) i tend to shut off. Everything they say goes in one ear and out the other and i get rebellious. i try to control it as best i can, but i can't stop it all together because it's part of my personality. i don't know if Dr. Biller has ever said anything to me that didn't make me feel like she was talking down to me. i met her two months ago, and she acts like she knows my disease better than i do. Granted, she surely knows Cystic Fibrosis better than i do, but each case is very individual, as you all know, and she does not, in any way, know my case better than i do. She refuses to listen to me.

My question is, does anyone know of any doctor in the Milwaukee area that's a good Dr. I'm not neccessarily looking for a CF Care center because i'm planning on going to Madison for my CF. i just need a local general practitioner that has a decent knowledge of CF so that i can get out of Froedert. i don't want to have to drive to Madison every time i get a fever.

Please please please... i need help. Anything you can offer is appreciated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and/or respond.

Much love and best wishes to all - f

Frankie,
Maybe if you go through the list of GPs you can see through your insurance, and research them. You could even call their clinic and talk to their nurse. Also, ask your CF care center if they can refer you to a GP in your area that is knowledgeable about CF. I understand your frusteration when it comes to being inked... I am extensively tattooed and I can't tell you how many docs have told me I should be more responsible. Last year I was diagnosed with renal failure and the doctor told me I had hepatitis and that's why my kidneys were failing. It was totally nuts because they didn't actually test me for it, just assumed that because I had tattoos, that I was infected. Totally irresponsible.

You should email me if you get the chance. I don't check these forums but once every couple of months. I don't have MySpace (long story), but I would really like to be in touch with you... it's nice to find a kindred spirit-- another CF, tattooed, punk rock girl!

Hi Jane. Thank you. i have been in lots of tattoo magazines over the years, so i will try to find those pics to post. It's very nice to meet you as well.

Melanie. How wonderful, i will email you. Thanks for your advice. i didn't even think of asking Froedert for a refferal. That's probably what i will do for the time being. i was going to start calling offices, but the list was eternally long... and i'm kind of a procrastinator. i like short cuts, a lot. i feel you with doctors misdiagnosing based on our appearance. Once a resident actually asked me if i had recieved my tattoos in a basement, or jail. And my tattoos are not basement/jail quality. i said, "i got them in a shop." and she was like, "Was it clean?" It was like, "No, the people there smelled like they hadn't showered in weeks, there were rats running around all over the place. Cockroaches everywhere. There was dust an inch and a half thick on everything and there were no sinks. The needles came out of this cardboard box. They were all just piled in there loose. The tattooists seemed like they all had some kind of illness. They were all coughing and wiping their noses. They didn't wear gloves... Is that a problem?"

Ridiculous.

Anyway, hello to you both.

I am sorry you don't like Dr. . I had her for four years in college and really liked her. I do know that it takes awhile to get used to her. She does know a lot about CF and sometimes it comes across as too much in your face. Also, it is so hard to go from a doctor you loved to another doctor, they never seem to measure up. I went from a doctor I didn't like to her so maybe that is why I liked her.

Can you get a referral from your old doctor? I didn't really have a choice because my doctor worked with Dr. and said that she was clearly the best. But I know it is horrible if you don't like your doctor so feel free to ask for a referral.

How do you like Milwaukee? I am from Chicago and when I went there for school i thought it was a friendlier Chicago. Very laid back.

Also, I vaugely remember a Frankie with CF from Real World. Are you her? Is that horribly rude to ask? If it is I am sorry, but when I see your myspace I feel you look familiar and that always bothers me when I can't place someone.

Anyway, good luck and welcome

I did too, I thought the same thing and was going to ask if no one else did, so are you the Frankie from Real World.

Well I just answered my question and all of your answers, I did a search for real world and found the frankie from San Diego Real World and they are not the same unless she changed her last name but the frankie from real world is Frankie Jo Abernathy and she is still with her boyfriend Dave Duly. Here is the link that I found this on. Frankie's Bio from Real World
