Am I being selfish?

In general, I think women have a tendancy to want to please everyone and don't want to upset anyone. That being the case, we are more likely so sacrifice our dreams/goals just to make others happy. The worst part of it is that we've been taught that doing what we want is selfish. Seems to me that when men do what they want, it's call ambition/dedication.

Erm, I don't think so anymore. =-) At least, it's not a mentality I see much. Of course, since I'm a man, i guess maybe that doen't count for much. =-)

Just a side note, anyone ever see Mona Lisa's Smile? I'm reminded of that movie by this. =-)

With regards to what Claudette said and Jarod responded to... I think it's much less than it used to be in decades past... but it's certainly still there. Course, that's all I have to say about it, because I don't know any more than that. Hahaha.

Hey Jenn! I say go for it, yeah there is an increased risk of getting more cooties in the ER, you just have to be extra careful....If that is truly what you want to do and that is your passion then just do it. ER's and ICU's are notorious for nasty bugs (I was an ICU nurse- trust me, that wouldn't be the place for you to work, MRSA,VRE...all the nasties there) I recognize you from another group, I am Sunny there. I think your loved ones are just worried that you might get sicker and pick up some really nasty infections. BTW, I am so proud that you will be a nurse in May, I know how hard it is to get that degree...I still keep my license up even though I don't work, I worked way too hard to give it up just yet!!! And with a 4.0 average, I am impressed, you had to have worked your butt off!!!! You do what is best in your heart and mind...if you find that you are getting sick frequently, the beauty of nursing is that you can change to different departments. Many hugs Cepaciagal (Sunny)

Dear Jen
Hello... I do not have CF but i do have a daughter with CF, I can truly understand where your family is coming from and i pray that when my daughter is old enough to make her own decisions that i will not let my selfishness get in her way. I love her with all of my heart as i am sure your family does. In this life that my daughter lives i hope that she never gives up on her dreams and i pray that i am strong enough to stand beside her all of the way. I say " go for it " and just be careful.... I know how protective i am over my daughter the second we walk into the hospital... as soon as we walk in i make her wear a mask before we even get to clinic... so i can understand your family's concern for you. I always want my Kait to live her life to the fullest and never give up.
