am I crazy, how can this make sense

ask the doctor why he is so opposed to the Ambry Ampliefied test? It's not out of his pocket. All he has to do is fill out a bit of paperwork.

Ask him to put in your chart notes that you requested the test and he denied it.... calling it not medically necessary. then when your kid is finally diagnosed u can go back in the charts and sue the guy.

sounds extreme but sometimes you need to light a fire under some docs. i know i've had to pull out the big guns in my 26 years dealing with this disease....

Just a thought, but can you ask <i>your</i> doctor to get both you and your son's father tested with the full Ambry- to rule out being carriers, based on family history? If you both come back positive, then you will know which ones to test for. Or, maybe they can just do his father's first, and then if it comes back positive as a carrier, you could be tested...With symptoms and 2 carrier parents, I would think that would make it "medically necessary". It would be a bit of an end run, but maybe your doctor can work with you, if this doctor won't. to be honest, his father left about 11 years ago, and after the divorce was final, he wasn't seen or heard from again by us. Since then my ex's family has also cut ties with him. It gets confusing LOL.
Plus insurance won't cover anyones testing unless its medically necessary and that includes testing me.

My insurance is the same. They will not cover if it is not medicaly nessisary. I called Ambry and got the test kit and with it came all the papers that have to be filled out. I think it was only 2. One is for the testing and one is for the insurence. I think on both of them there are boxes that you check if you want carrier testing or diagnostic testing. I just told my doctor who new nothing about the test that I needed her to check the diagnostic box so that my insurence would cover it. She actualy had me fill most of it out and she just signed it.

It is free for the test kit. You should call and get one. They deliver it within a few days. At your next apt. take it with you and ask the doc to just fill it out.

Good luck. I am expecting my resuls back at the end of this week or beging of next and I am a nevous reck. It is all I have been able to think about.
