I, too, have had many of these acts of kindness bestowed upon me, and I, too, reserve the right to add on, later. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

The one that comes immediately to mind happened during Great Strides last year. One of our walkers is a teacher (not at my school). She had collected donations from her fellow teachers, among others. During the walk she suddenly stoopped me and said, "Oh wait! I can't forget this!" and reached into her pocket. She handed me a $20 bill. The janitor at her school had contributed to her walk fund, but, he also wanted to make sure that we, the family, got something too. He insisted that we not put it toward the walk, but instead, use it to buy the girls ice cream or something. I was so touched. I'll never meet the man, and my friend said that he's about as "crotchety" as they come...but his act of kindness made me cry, right there in the middle of the walk.

Great thread...but I'm going to need a box of tissues to get throught the stories!

I agree Tami -- I'm already tearing up reading these. But the bottomline to me is that even though CF sucks (no debate there), it has afforded most of us an opportubity to see the really good side of people. Its an amazing gift to see the great kindness of some people's hearts.

Iam still new to this site but would like to share with all of you. My daughter ended the year bad. Got sick December 18th. Had manage to stay out of the hospital since end of July. By the end of February she got admitted 3 times. Iam a single mom, no child support or anything like that. One in college. I was'nt able to work for almost 3 months. My boss who is a wonderfull person allowed me the time to take care of her. I still got my pay checks and he called everyday to check on her.
I did'nt have to worry about paying the bills the money was there from my pay.

All I had to do was worry about her and nothing else. Human kindness goes along long ways.

Lili got a letter today from an old family friend of my husbands. He came across the Great Strides Letter we sent out last April in a pile and sent us a check for $500. He did not make it out to anyone, letting us decide how we wanted to use it. It brought tears to my eyes.
