Amber had a very good day yesterday. She had some special visitors at
the hospital - Pittsburgh Steelers were doing a publicity thing to put
on their website. The 3 players who came were Rian Wallace, Brett
Keisel & Aaron Smith. My mom was with Amber at the time & said they were
very nice. They were teasing them & said "we know your big Bengals fans
if your from Cincinnati". My mom asked them if one of them were the
person who broke Carson Palmers leg! HA! They said no it wasn't us!
They gave Amber an autographed decal & photo of the team. She is going to
be on their website which is steelers.com. After that Amber got a 5
hour pass again & came to the apartment. She wanted to eat out so we
went to TGIFriday's which is very close to the apartment. They were very
good to us. I told them this was Amber's 1st venture out & they gave
us her meal for free. They also had the employees sign balloons. Then
believe it or not Amber wanted to go to her favorite store (Limited
Too) to shop! We followed her with a chair & let her sit down when she
got tired. She bought a few new things thanks to family (Darrell's
sister's Darya & Angie & Darrell's dad & Wanda) who sent money for her to
shop. Amber did so good walking. She had both her chest tubes still in
but they both came out this morning. I have not downloaded the
pictures of our first outing but I will do that now & send them to you later
today. Amber continues with dialysis & is having another session today.
She perks up after the sessions & feels so much better. Her kidney
numbers are improving with each dialysis session. If she does need a
kidney transplant the surgeons said she could have it back home. That will
be so much better for all of us. I will update again soon & post
pictures on the COTA website as well. (www.cotaforAmberN.com).
