I've already done the 35 mut gene test and the sweat chloride recently. The clinic I'm going to is doing another sweat test and 35 mut test. I'm wondering why are they just redoing tests that are already done, seems like a giant waste. I figured they would automatically want to do the full 1400 mut Ambry test. Sweat chloride was positive, missing vas defs, 35 mut test found one: f508. They said it's not established yet whether I have CF or not. Seems to me they need to do the more extensive test to find the second mut to prove/disprove this and get more info. This really doesn't make sense to me. Did you guys find you had to push for the Ambry test?

Maybe if you call Ambry you can clarify if they are stopping at the 35 panel or if they will continue testing until they find the second mutation. I know they do the testing in segments to reduce cost.
My clinic didn't say I had CF at my first appointment even though they had my Ambry results. They called it "CF-like". My diagnosis became clearer after my sweat test and sputum culture I think. A CF diagnosis is a serious thing so maybe your clinic wants to cover all bases themselves to be sure you have it.
