And why is insurance so messed up?

This is all incredible but not surprising. I thought I'd throw in my experience with the insanities of insurance (Medicare specifically). Although I'm so grateful to have insurance, they need to cut out waste.

So for Medicare to cover my insulin pump supplies, I MUST see my endo 4 times a year, when I usually only went once or twice. So they are paying for 2-3 extra and unnecessary appointments per year. Then they only allow me to get a months worth of supplies at a time, which are shipped UPS 3 day which I'm sure isn't cheap. So that's 12 separate shipments, when before I maybe got 3 or 4 a year. IT MAKES NOT SENSE!!! (Pulls hair out)

This is a NIGHTMARE!!

I just was put on IVIG and when they billed insurance they billed them for $10,000. Of course, insurance said they wouldn't pay for it, so the infusion clinic said it would be only (LOL) 1350.00 if I was paying them without insurance.

Since the infusion clinic is so full all of the time, I asked my home pharmacy if I could do it at home. They said fine. Well, after checking into it, they decided they did not want to treat me bc insurance wouldn't pay them the 10,000.00 I said, oh, yeah, well, this is self pay. They said absolutely not bc they wanted to be paid the insurance amount and not the little 1350. that the drug costs for those without insurance to cover it.

How effed up is that?
