Did not see that, but does sound a little cheesy. Yeah I agree why didn't they just say it., whether it was staph or pseduo or whatever. Doesn't suprise me it was in the purse, because it's everywhere in the environment, and just not unique to CFers.

I don't think CFers need to be quarantined but I've also never fully agreeded with the medical experts or CFers that swear they are not contagious. CF mucus and coughs have some nasty bugs.

wait a minute - we DO have dangerous bacteria in our lungs that can be harmful to people. especially as a nurse, I would think you would be comfortable with that fact.

and we are sick - CF is a deadly disease.

it seems like you have more of an issue with coming to terms with and accepting the facts of YOUR disease and what's hanging out in your lungs rather than what the show said.</end quote></div>

a little harsh, no?
well- I'd just write it off as an incident of ill thought out stupidity. Like the fact that my classmates, the dumber ones, are afraid they'll catch mrsa from me. It's more likely you'll get mrsa or staph or pseudo from your neighborhood swimming pool this summer. But I do agree with what you said. It really doesn't help the public's opion of cfers as a collective group. BTW- I don't even culture staph. ha ha.

I think that was a little harsh. There was no meantion about how she felt about her disease, only how she felt about the way a tv show presented its findings and information. Yes we have bacteria that are or can be dangerous but it doesnt mean we want to be treated differently.

Yes, we do have dangerous bacteria. However, the show should not have labeled something as a commonly found CF bacteria. For people who are ignorant and believe everything a TV show says will assocate whatever the show says with the disease, reguardless if a person actually has the bacteria or not. And correcting those kind of people is basically as effective as talking to a wall. Plus people without CF have staph so it's not just a "CF bacteria". I agree Marisa, that would have annoyed me. They should have left CF out of it and just said the name of the bacteria. They are not the first show to test things for bacteria. They should have said it was a common bacteria found everywhere. CF just makes us more acceptable to it. Personally I dont like to be known as "the sick one" or any other tag that could go with it. I've been there and done that...and it's a major pain in the rear.
