Courtney's cough is now a deep barking cough. She says she has felt "pressure" in the middle of her chest all day?

What the heck does this mean???

Not a clue. For me, it doesn't mean much, except annoyance. I get the barking cough a few times a year (I always liken it to a seal). It comes, it's irritating, it tears my throat apart, and then it goes. *shrug*

As for the pressure thing, I get that too sometimes. It doesn't always go with the bark, it often comes on its own. It's annoying, and it goes. Sorry I can't be of any help.

It could mean that a big ol' wad of mucus has dislodged and is working its way up and out. Don't give her cough syrup to stifle the cough, but if it's making her throat sore and she's getting hoarse from so much effort, encourage her to drink some tea with lemon, or some other soothing hot drink. (My personal favorite is honey lemon chamomile...mmmmmm)
