another question about my PICC

i have a PICC and i've had it since december 12th. i just stopped my meds yesterday. i go to my clinic on january 7th.

do i just flush with saline and heprin once a day until then or how much? my clinic isn't open so i can't call and ask.

The company that is supplying you with your meds should have a nurse available (and, possibly, have your home healthcare nurse call you back) to let you know what your instructions should be. I have always had my picc pulled the day of or day after I finish my meds, so I can't help with that part. Sorry!

Yes you need to flush the picc once a day with saline then with heparin, we just finsihed a picc and to flush it daily for one week until we went back to clinic. Your baby is just precious. Good Luck, Happy New Year.

I was always taught to flush twice a day if the picc is not being used. I know protocol is a little different though at different hospitals and home health care companies. If they gave you enough saline and heparin, I would suggest this myself. Like AnD said, call your med supply company, they should be able to help you and ensure you have enough supplies.
