I have some free time today so I thought I'd check in. Anyway, I've been on an ant-acid for hyper-acidity ever since I could swallow pills. I probably switched to Zantac over a decade ago. I took 2 a day. A few years ago, I began shedding some of my hair; every time I ran my hands through my scalp, I would come up with multiple strands of hair in my hands. Needless to say I also experienced severe muscle weakness. Especially in the hip area; my balance became so erratic, that I *almost* had to walk with a cane. Another thing, due to my muscles being weakened, I got Patella Femoral Pain Syndrome, and my knees continued to suffer. Now after some research, I realized that Zantac was the culprit behind all of my problems. It seems that all ppi (proton pump inhibitor) ant-acids contain a compound that blocks the action of B vitamins, and as you know, B vitamins are very important for your scalp, as well as energy in general.
So I found a probiotic that works, I Flora, and I quit taking Zantac. I thought all was well but I was experiencing constant fatigue and my knees never got better. I went to my doctor and he said that I have the knees of an 18 year old, and he has no idea why I say that they're weak. (I don't know how much smoke he was blowing up my ass as he was a workman's comp doc)These past few days I have incorporated a different ant-acid, Pepcid, into my regime once a day. My fatigue has drastically improved and my knees are 100% better. But this time, I plan on incorporating a B Complex vitamin into my plan, with all the essential B vitamins, Hopefully I can avoid any of the complications. Anyhow, I take Pepcid once a day at night, and the next day around 3 or 4 fatigue starts setting in, I'm considering upping it to twice daily. What does everyone think and what are your experiences with ant-acids?
