A couple weeks ago Graycie had pink eye and double ear infections. They put her on bactrim and she started getting what looked like a diaper rash. She was also having a fever that would come and go. In the last couple days she has stopped eating and playing. She is just laying around and NOT acting right. Yesterday, her fever spiked at 104 and they wanted us to bring her right to Childrens along with a packed bag. After running tests, they said another ear infection and yeast infection from the antibiotics. Plus her throat looked awful(whatever that means). They got her fever down to 99 then it went back to 102. Later the fever seemed to be going down and they wanted to release her saying they thought it was viral. No coughing, running nose or anything like that. Said that they didn't want to give her more antiboitics because of how bad the yeast infection was. Has this ever happened to your child? They said the pink eye was the start of this viral infection. Why won't they treat that? Sorry so long but she has been doing so well and now we are losing ground and it is so disheartening. She is still not eating or drinking so they say just pedialite. There goes that pound she gained last month....<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

they most likely don't wan tto treat it because her immunity is down and adding anything would only make matters worse, especially for a small issue like pink eye but no fun for you guys!!! Go to a natural store and buy acidophiles get one with the highest amount of microorganisms, this will help get rid of the yeast infection in her body give morning and night. It is not a bad idea to go ahead and use all the time in smaller doses, Brandon always has yeast issues and this is the only thing that help and his dr. even approves and recommends this. Also if it is a lot in her mouth and throat you will see a white deposit on her tongue and throat which is oral thrush. Go to the pharmacy and ask for Gentian Violet which is a natural non prescribed remedy for yeast. apply to her mouth and it will stain it purple but with in a few days if its really bad or even just one or two days it should go away. thrush hurts and will decrease an appetite in anyone.

Also food for thought if she keeps getting ear infections maybe request to have a referral to an ENT to just check her out and see why she keeps getting these..

hope this helps, good luck

Acidophillus!!!! is the key! sophie would get terrible yeast infections when on antibiotics and her GI told us to put her on acidophillus treatment on a regular basis, so she takes one capsule..300mg..daily, i split it in half. its a powder so i add half to her applesauce with enzymes and the other half to her applesauce later in the day. the docs said there are no side effects for long term usage at this dosage and it has been a miracle cure!!!! it pretty cheap to we get the generic rite aid pharmacy brand for around 6.00.

I think adding acidophillus is a great idea. I remember them giving that to me after taking antibiotics before. I texted my daughter and told her to come on here and check out your comments. She does have a appt with ENT next week. She had a hearing test and was found to have some hearing loss but not sure exactly how much yet. They said maybe due to the TPN in the first 6 mo's of her life. They also said she has an enlarged ear tube and a hole in her eardrum? Getting that checked out next week. Its always something. Poor baby hasn't really ate in a few days due to her mouth and throat. Her little bum looks better but she doesn't want to even sit. Seems like it happened overnight. Thanks for your advice. I love coming here because someone always has a great suggestion that we seem to overlook. You guys are great!
