Any African-Americans with CF?

I was just wondering. I know there aren't as many African Americans with cf. Are there any who post regularly on this board? Just curious.

I'm not sure about on this board, but have you visited <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.milanfoundation.org/">http://www.milanfoundation.org/</a>, the little girl, Milan Brown has CF and is African American. It's a great foundation, helps out CFers and their families. Not sure if that helps, as I know it doesn't directly answer your question....

Hello
My daughter has CF...her father is bi-racial and is obviously a CF carrier. I don't know if his gene is from his fathers family ( African American ) or his mothers (caucasian ) but Kait does indeed have CF and she does have African American relatives,

Also, at our walk site...we have walkers that are bi-racial...as to whether or not they visit this site, i don't know.

Charlize is South African though - as is my grandmother - and my grandma, at least, doesn't consider herself as African Amercian, but rather simply South African, nor do many people in the U.S. use that term for much other than referring to black people. (I know, I tried to get an angle on scholarships once with the African American thing, as my dad was born in Africa - didn't work!)

It was a joke. I was referring to the SNL episode where she was the host and called herself African-American in the monologue. Good episode.

If you believe in the "out of Africa" theory of evolution, then we're all African <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

But I was just playing around with the above post <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Heh was gonna say, good luck with that one <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Anyways @ Amy: While not set in stone, it could very well likely be we all came from "eve" from Africa, and then we just all migrated to different areas and the environment is what changed our features (mongoloid, caucasoid, negroid as the three base "races"). It does generally make sense. I think though, that a pure blood African (meaning no white ancestry at all) person, would be as close to impossible to get CF as you can get to the word impossible in the world of genetics. I think each example of someone who is Black who has CF, there was some direct European/white ancestry in their geneology.

You are absolutely correct, Sean. I agree 100%

And this is why I get upset when Hispanic people call White people "racist" when it comes to the ILLEGAL immigration issue. Besides the fact that the issue is of law and not race (i'm against the 10,000 illegal Irish immigrants in the US), whites and hispanics are of the same race. As you stated, there are only 3! Caucasoid....

But you are correct about the migrations out of Africa. This is exactly what I was talking about when I spoke of the Out of Africa theory.

Hi
My best friend is a black South African and her 12 year old daughter has CF. Our genetics experts here rekon that 1 in 75 black South African's are carriers but those with CF are not diagnosed unless they are referred to one of the main teaching hospitals.

Hi! I'm an African-American female who has just been diagnosed in July 2008 at the age of 31 with CF, I have an almost 2-year old daughter and I'm totally afraid of this disease. I was also diagnosed with CFRD. If anyone wants to chat please resparkle@yahoo.com I don't know what went wrong in the gene pool, lol. One great-grandfather was Canadian and the other German, what luck huh!
